Traditional
With traditional cataract surgery, Dr. Gerstein will remove the natural clouded lens and replace it with a monofocal IOL (intraocular lens). This type of lens is very effective at restoring functional distance vision. However, you may still need to use reading glasses to correct your near vision and glasses or additional surgery to correct any existing astigmatism. The monofocal IOL implant is considered the standard lens after cataract extraction and is covered by most insurance plans. If you elect this lens option, Dr. Gerstein will discuss your expectations after surgery to determine if this best suites your needs. |
