Postoperative Instructions (LASIK)
Immediately following your surgery, your surgeon will use the following on your eye(s):
Eye shield (or goggles) for the first 24 hours, then for 1 week while sleeping; may be removed briefly to instill drops
You may experience one of the following symptoms 24- 48 hours following your surgery:
Light sensitivity
Tearing
A sensation of something in the eye
Double- vision/ shadow images
Halos around lights at night
A mild post-laser pain (for severe pain, call office immediately)
These symptoms are temporary and occur in some patients during the post-treatment period. Others report little or no discomfort. You may resume your normal diet and routine oral medications following surgery.
Refrain from using make-up around the eye for a minimum of 7 days, and only then with great care.
Refrain from getting head or eye wet until after your first post-operative exam.
Do not swim in hot tubs, swimming pools, ocean, or lake water for a minimum of 7 days.
GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO NOT TOUCH, RUB, OR BUMP THE OPERATED EYE (S) FOR A MINIMUM OF 7 DAYS FOLLOWING SURGERY.
Postoperative Eye Drops- To be used until the first post-operative visit (24-72 hours).
Steroid Drops - Hourly first evening, then 4X per day
Antibiotic Drops - 4X per day
Artificial Tears - Hourly for first week, then 6X per day
